A few reviews express that the quality may have diminished compared to previous visits, indicating a lack of consistency over time.

A minority of diners feel the atmosphere leans more towards a fast-food feel rather than a fine dining experience, influencing their overall enjoyment.

On rare occasions, the fish and chips may come out a bit oily, which has led to some disappointment regarding healthiness.

Best fish and chips I’ve had for a long long time Perfectly cooked fish, I had plaice, chips crispy on the outside soft in the middle just how I like them. We all enjoyed our take away- Amazing well done clean plates all round

More focus on take away than eating in the dining room, but both are available. Fish and chips comes in small, medium or large, and the photo is of the large portion, which was large. I've also eaten their beef and onion pie with chips. The portion of chips is certainly adequate. The menu also has burgers and more seafood.

Not a bad meal for 2 for less than £20, waitress service in the cosy restaurant with a view of the passers by, including lost acquaintances on Wincheap. However not up to the high standard of previous years. Maybe late lunchtime on a Saturday was not prime frying time. Lovely grilled plaice and haddock.

Read a couple of bad reviews while waiting for my order tonight and was a bit worried but the food was excellent. We had 2x cod and chips with mushy peas. The fish was firm and delicious and the mushy peas were the best I can remember having. Will be back for sure!

Spent the weekend in Canterbury and this chip shop was close to my hotel. Everything I had from there was freshly cooked and the cod bites meal with chips and mushy peas was ridiculously good! A nice looking shop and experienced good service both times I was there. Recommended.
